This is a great performance setup for the barrel horse that needs rate, lift, flex, and control, but still needs room to stay free and moving forward through the turn.

The gag action gives you lift and added control, while the rope nose conforms across the bridge of the nose to bring in added rate and lateral guidance. This gives you different ways to communicate throughout the turn instead of depending on mouth pressure alone.

When you need to get one rated and collected, you can pick up and get a clearer response through the bit. As you move through the turn, the noseband gives you another point of contact to guide and position the horse laterally, helping you stay soft in your hands while keeping the horse shaped around the barrel.

It’s especially useful on a horse that needs you to get their attention going into the turn, then get out of their way and let them finish it.
