SC-77

One of our longtime top sellers, and one of those Shallow Creek designs that may look a little familiar. 😉

The SC-77 was designed for the horse that needs a little more than an O-ring, but doesn’t need a lot of shank.

Its short overall design gives you a quick, clear response without the overreaction you can sometimes get from a longer leveraged bit. The longer purchase helps create a more collected feel while still allowing the mouthpiece to do the communicating.

This makes the SC-77 especially useful on a strong horse with a sensitive mouth. You can get their attention when you need it, then soften your hands and get back out of their way when they respond.

For a barrel horse, that means better communication when asking for rate, collection, and response through the turn without feeling like you have to pull every stride.

Another bonus: with most mouthpieces, the SC-77 is interchangeable with the SC-7 cheek. Keep the mouthpiece your horse already likes, and switch between the longer purchase of the SC-77 or the longer shank of the SC-7 depending on the feel you need.

Best For
Strong or sensitive barrel horses that need more response and control than an O-ring, but don’t need the added leverage of a long shank.

Rider Note
A great choice for the horse that gets strong or braces against an O-ring, but becomes defensive or overreactive in a longer shank. Ask, get the response, then soften and let them work.

Build Info
Approximately 6" from top to bottom with a longer purchase and short shank design. Comes standard with a curb chain unless otherwise requested. Interchangeable with the SC-7 cheek on compatible mouthpieces. Port and Mullen mouthpieces are not interchangeable between the two. Handmade in our Tennessee shop with stainless steel hardware and your choice of mouthpiece.
